I met Enya when she had the opportunity to spend the summer in Logan Utah before going home to Taiwan and continuing to finish her schooling. She had attended college back east in New York this past school year, and then at the end of the school year, she came out to Logan Utah and worked for Blackstone Products. Blackstone builds and sells outdoor griddles and other cooking accessories. After a few weeks at Blackstone, she wanted to learn more about the marketing and graphic design department. So I had the opportunity as the graphic design manager to work with Enya and give her a variety of assignments. She was a rapid learner and helped out a lot in our department. Over the next few weeks I got to know Enya, she was one who worked hard and never complained. I know I gave her some challenging assignments and to my surprise, they turned out looking very nice.
As I first meet Enya, I had shown some of the Artist in You and Me work I had done with others. I think she liked what she saw and had asked me to draw with her before she had to leave and go back home. Now I think she was excited when I had agreed to draw with her. Well, I had forgotten and was reminded on the day before she headed home. As we sat down and drew, I was very impressed with Enya and her imagination and determination to draw. When I draw with others, I see them struggle a bit as they don't know what to draw next. This wasn't the case with Enya. She didn't hesitate as she drew all kinds of lines and shapes onto the paper. Not only is she smart but she has a great imagination. It was a lot of fun to draw with Enya, and I think she in on her way to do amazing things throughout her life. Thanks for drawing with me Enya!
The pencil drawing is the result of the collaboration between Enya and I.
